At Maxwell, we know it may be important for you to capture the reason why an employee chooses not to enroll in your company’s health insurance benefit. Whether you’re ensuring participation requirements are met with your health insurance carrier, complying with the Affordable Care Act (ACA), or simply meeting basic reporting needs, Maxwell’s got you covered.
Capturing Medical Waiver Reason
You now have the option to require that your employees provide a waiver reason when declining to enroll in your group-sponsored medical coverage.
When enabled, if an employee selects to waive medical coverage during their benefits shopping, this feature will prompt them to select a waiver reason from a list of options. If none of the options apply to their specific situation, they can also choose to respond with a custom reason.
After you’ve enabled the Medical Waiver Reason requirement, any captured responses will be available for you to include when running the Coverage Report in your Reports Library.

Voluntary Decline Coverage Reason
With this latest release, the Maxwell shopping experience will start asking employees a quick, optional question as to why they’ve decided to decline coverage for certain voluntary benefits. Our goal is to collect this feedback so that we can improve the user experience.
Please note: Because this information will be used for the purposes of enhancing the platform, it will not be available for reporting.
